Cooking Pizza with Dutch Ovens

Haven’t tried cooking your pizza outdoors yet? Well, read on and you’ll find out how to create your own Dutch oven-cooked pizza like a pro!

Easy-to-make Dough

Many people find dough a bit hassle to make because they don’t really want to spend long hours in the kitchen. So maybe you can just grab a pizza shop dough, just make sure it’s frozen to keep it longer. But you have to try making your own dough. It’s not really that hard and it’ll just take less than an hour to make. You can prepare it earlier, maybe a day or two before your party so you’ll have more time to prepare other things you need.

You can basically make your dough from scratch. All you need is all-purpose flour (unbleached), active dry yeast, oil, salt, sugar or honey, and lukewarm water.

Pizza ring and a stand

The most important thing you have to consider is of course, your tools. I love to cook my pizza using my Dutch oven. This is somewhat a little hard to handle especially for first timers so I suggest you make use of a pizza ring and a stand. The unique advantage of making use of such is the regulation of heat both on top and at the bottom simulating your indoor oven. Your Dutch oven will have the right amount of heat that will cook your pizza to perfection! And by using your Dutch oven, you can definitely add a little flair to your recipe because of the distinctive taste and aroma the smoke brings to your pizza.

Pizza Perfect!

I personally can not resist my pizza with mouth-watering golden crispy crust, lots of cheese and pepperoni and crispy bacon bits. The best thing about cooking your own pizza is that, you can overload it with your favorite toppings and simply omit some ingredients you prefer not to be found in your pizza (well, anchovy is one for me).

You can create your very own version and who knows, you might even get famous for your unique pizza recipe!

How To Make An Easy Diet Pizza Dough

An inexpensive and simple food, Pizza is definitely the reason why Pizza parlours make so much money selling these slices of heaven. Although, Pizza is a meal you can create at home, and you do not have to buy and keep Pizza bases for when you get that craving.

If you surf the world wide web it’s easy to locate recipes and methods for creating all types of Pizza dough. Examples are; half wheat pizza dough, thin pizza dough, herby pizza dough, and the popular crispy pizza dough. Think of a dough crust, and someone probably makes it. Unfortunately most of those Pizza Dough Recipes need you to spend anywhere up to twenty-four hours to prepare. In my mind Pizza is only a convenience food if its fresh and quick, and in this case an easy diet Pizza recipe. Forward planning shouldn’t be a part of the experience. Kneading for ages and waiting patiently for it to ferment, no thanks! Thankfully I have a better way and best of all its an easy diet method.

When I get the craving for a Pizza, I can’t wait, but it’s got to be fresh, quick, low fat, low cal and high in stomach filling fibre! However, if dough mixture needs time to rise, how can it be made quickly? Well guess what, my recipe is speedy and simple to create in your very own kitchen, and you only need a few ingredients: olive oil, whole wheat flour, water, yeast, salt, and my secret ingredient (read on).

A technique in creating an easy Pizza dough fast, is using rapidly rising yeast. Using this special yeast has the ability to cut your pizza dough prep’ time from up to twenty-four hours to only thirty minutes. In that thirty minutes, you have the time to cut up and select all the toppings you would like on the Pizza, failing that just relax for 30 minutes, “chuckle“.

Step-by-Step Recipe:

1. You need one cup of hot tap water (not boiling). Get a large mixing bowl, pour the hot water in, and then add a teaspoon of salt and a packet of the rapid rising yeast. Mix it all together with a fork.

2. Slowly mix in 2 cups of whole wheat flour, and 1 tablespoon of my secret ingredient – powdered psyllium husk. The husk is tasteless and high in fibre. In the beginning, the mixture will combine quickly. Then the mixture will get too thick to use the fork, that’s when you start using your hands. It can get a little fiddly. If it gets a bit gooey, keep a little extra spare flour on the side.

3. When your kneading the dough it might stick to your hands, to prevent this dust the hands with the spare flour, then resume kneading the dough. Keep repeating the process until it forms a ball and it doesn’t stick. In an ideal world, you need to use as little extra flour as achievable to make this occur.

4. Now cover the outside of the dough ball with a tablespoon of olive oil, it just makes it a bit easier to handle. Get a clean kitchen towel and cover the dough ball, then leave for half an hour.

5. After 30 minutes roll out the dough ball with a rolling pin, roll it out on big baking sheet, or something equivalent like a pizza stone. When finally making this Pizza base it’s better to have the thin and crispy style, to achieve this make sure you roll it out as thin as practically possible. But don’t make it so thin if splits apart.

What make this an easy diet Pizza is the speed, high fibre, and comparatively lower calories. The combination of Psyllium husk and whole wheat flour adds lots of indigestible fibre making it filling and nutritious.

That’s all there is to it! Fast, easy diet Pizza dough that’s delicious.

Dominos Cheesy Bread Recipe
Domino’s cheesy bread recipe is essential if you want to make cheesy bread at your own home just like Dominos. Before I tell you about Dominos cheesy bread recipe, you should know that the former director of quality control for Dominos Pizza, Bev Collins, actually teaches people how to make pizza. So, you can learn from the old Dominos pizza guru. Check out this website devoted this pizza maker: Bev Collins.

Learning the basics of making great pizza is easy to learn, but can be difficult to perfect on your own! The time it takes to develop your techniques may be significant. As a result, learning the dos and don’ts of pizza making from an expert can be a real time saver. The cheesy bread that dominos served is, if you like it, a good dish. To learn of dominos pizza recipes you will need to visit my site. A link will be provided somewhere at the very end of this article.

The History of Dominos Pizza
Dominos pizza was created by a man known as Tom Monaghan. Tom Monaghan created his restaurant after buying a pizza place named Dominics. The store eventually came into a disagreement over the name with another local store and so he changed the name to Dominos. How to do I know this, I learned it from Bev Collins, a former major manager for Dominos Pizza. Bev Collin’s ebook is full of her personal experience with Tom; who she met when he attended her culinary class.

Great pizza is essentially composed of the following things: great dough, great sauce, great cheese, and great toppings. Additionally, having the right equipment is essential for making great pizza. Yes, this is a bit more information than just a list of ingredients and protocol of preparation; but if you want to make true Dominos Pizza, then you may want to learn from the master Bev Collins. More information on this will be made available on my site.

Not everyone holds the same taste in pizza. I personally have a few types of pizza that I cannot stand. Some pizza is totally horrible for me, like Sbarro Pizza; an insult to the senses. I simply do not like Sbarro Pizza; greasy, cheap, and expensive. The thought of spending money for it simply upsets me. Sbarro Pizza is always in malls but, thankfully, there are some of those other wonderful restaurants in every mall food court. I just wish there were more pizza restaurants to choose from at the mall food courts. It often appears as if Sbarro Pizza has a monopoly on the mall food court pizza business.

You may love Sbarro pizza; although I am not sure how this could happen. Either way, it just goes to show you how different people have a different idea of what good pizza should be. Perfecting your own pizza is something that takes time and experience. Sure, you can start with Dominos pizza, and then, as you become skillful; adapt it to suit your taste.
Dominos pizza recipes are easy to find on the internet; however, great pizza can only come from great chefs.

Dominos Recipe, certainly a way to save some cash. This site is dedicated to Dominos Recipe; so check it out at your leisure.

Making Pizza With Kids

August 23, 2010 by

Okay, you have 10 kids under 10 years old coming over to your house and you have to entertain them. You are looking for something interactive and fun. You also have to feed these kids… What do you do? The answer, Make Pizza!

Kids love spending time in the kitchen if you can make it a fun, interactive and yummy experience. Creating mini pizzas is a great way of engaging kids; so pull out your aprons and get cooking.

When cooking with children it’s important to let them get their hands messy and experiment a little. Kids love to pour, measure, mix and taste their own pizza creations. Unfortunately, kids can’t be counted on to be neat in the kitchen, so a little relaxation and patience will carry you a long way.

Safety First in Pizza Making:

Pizza making offers a good opportunity to discuss kitchen safety with children. You can discuss points like kitchen dangers; think knives, boiling water, etc. An alternative to lecturing is to give frequent reminders of what is okay to touch and what they should stay away from. You will also want to establish kitchen rules, like washing hands and not touching the stove or electric mixers.

Integrate Learning in Pizza Making:

At this point, you have already taught the kids about kitchen safety, but there is a lot more that you can teach when making pizza with children. School age children can use their math skills as they help measure and combine ingredients. Just think of all those wonderful fractions that need to be added, reduced, etc.

You can also take the opportunity to talk about good nutrition by discussing the ingredients you are choosing and why. Also, don’t be afraid to add fresh vegetables, you’ll be amazed what kids will eat when it’s covered in cheese and on top of a pizza they’ve created.

Pizza Making Quality Time:

Probably the best reason to make pizza with kids is for the quality time. Think about how much fun a mini pizza assembly line is, especially when the children are in charge of choosing their own crusts, cheeses, sauces and toppings.

Be sure to compliment the child on a job well done and offer your child the first taste of the pizza. Ask what they think and you may even consider having them judge the pizza on the taste, dough, toppings, etc. This will give them a chance to figure out what they might change for next time.

Here are some easy pizza recipes and pizza dough recipes that you might consider making.

* 1 tablespoon active dry yeast *
1 tablespoon olive oil
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 2 cups whole wheat flour
* 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

In a large bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water. Sprinkle yeast over the top, and let stand for about 10 minutes, until foamy.

Place dough in an oiled bowl, and turn to coat the surface. Cover loosely with a towel, and let stand in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

When the dough is doubled, tip the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and divide into 2 pieces for 2 thin crust, or leave whole to make one thick crust. Form into a tight ball. Let rise for about 45 minutes, until doubled.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Roll a ball of dough with a rolling pin until it will not stretch any further. Then drape it over both of your fists, and gently pull the edges outward, while rotating the crust. When the circle has reached the desired size, place on a well oiled pizza pan. Top pizza with your favorite toppings (sauce, cheese, meats, or vegetables).

Bake for 16 to 20 minutes (depending on thickness) in the preheated oven, until the crust is crisp and golden at the edges, and cheese is melted on the top.

The Best Homemade Pizza Recipe Delivered In 7 Minutes Or It’s Free!

August 23, 2010 by

I’m back from Sunburst Tomato Farm in Momeyer, North Carolina. What a great trip! While I was learning about growing tomatoes in the winter, I was thinking about making a homemade pizza recipe to add to my cooking classes. But then, I thought, what does the local tomato farmer like to make with his fresh tomatoes?

Tim Bass of Sunburst Tomatoes says he prefers the raw, natural flavor of his tomatoes in a Tomato Sandwich, “two slices of bread, some mayonnaise and a slice of tomato” is his favorite homemade tomato recipe.

Well, that might suit the tomato farmer, but Tim sent me home with a sack full of quality tomatoes and all I can think about is a homemade pizza recipe that I simply call “tomato pie”. I don’t use pizza sauce. No, instead, I use sliced tomatoes. But I’m jumping ahead in this cooking class, let’s start with the crust.

18-10-2

This is my tried and true basic homemade pizza dough recipe: 18 ounces flour, 10 ounces water, 2 teaspoons of yeast. This will be the basis for the pizza crust that will then complete the standard 10 step yeast dough process.

You want to take time mixing the ingredients together, because you want for gluten to develop in the process. Moisture and agitation develop gluten which will help to develop that wonderful chewy crust that we’ve all come to expect and love in our pizza. After the pizza dough is mixed, you need to allow it to ferment until it doubles in size. At this point, knock all of the air out of the dough and allow it to rise again. Now, the homemade pizza crust starts to take form. Using a rolling pin and a thick marble* slab, flatten the dough to create the pizza crust.

*(Marble is a wonderful medium to use when you are dealing with dough or pastry because the thickness of the slab helps to keep the temperature consistently cool to create a better product.)

I like to use a pizza peel to get my pizza in the oven. I put a little bit of corn meal on the peel to help with the flavor as well as making it easier to get the pizza off of the peel when I’m ready to put it into the oven. Once the homemade pizza crust is on the peel, I like to go around the edge of the pizza crust folding over the edge to form the outer edge of the pizza. Also, brush on a little olive oil to ensure a nice brown crust and I like to add some freshly cut garlic as well.

Let’s keep moving along in this cooking class…
Instead of a tomato sauce recipe, thinly sliced tomatoes will form the foundation of the tomato pie recipe, and this homemade pizza goes in the oven, on top of heated stones.

What? Only tomatoes on the homemade pizza?
No, I want more ingredients, but the tomatoes take longer to cook! Only after the tomatoes have cooked is the cheese and basil added. Basil is too delicate to allow it to bake for the same time as the tomatoes, so it’s added at the very end in a fancy French knife skill called “chiffonade”.

The best homemade pizza recipe is the one that uses the freshest, best ingredients, like tomatoes from your local farmer. The homemade pizza that you create will have much more flavor, nutrition and sense of pride that you made it. Not only that, it will be better for you as well. I hope you’ve enjoyed this cooking class, now go make a pizza!!
